Republicans In Fear As MAGA Divides Over Iran

Trump's war of choice in Iran looks to be an incredible act of self-sabotage of his political power, as it is eroding key support within the MAGA movement and jeopardizing the midterms even further.

The Republican President who swore he wouldn’t enter into foreign wars can’t afford to lose any of his hardcore MAGA base, given how unpopular he is with Independents and Democrats. But only 27% of Americans approve of Trump’s actions in Iran, with 55% of Republicans in support and now some of the loudest MAGA voices are breaking with the president.

We’ve seen a lot of anti-Iran war commentary from MAGA influencers, but France 24 has gathered it together enough to label it as opening cracks within his own base, which is significant as figures like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Eric Prince are expressing dissent, citing the war’s contradiction with the MAGA ideology and Tucker Carlson advising Trump to stand up to Israel, questioning the country’s influence and resources and Megyn Kelly criticizing the U.S. involvement, claiming that American troops died for Israel, not the U.S..

Watch here via France 24:

“Cracks are emerging in Trump’s MAGA base among supporters who say the war goes against the whole idea of America First. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who resigned from office after clashing with Trump over the Epstein files, wrote on Twitter, ‘I did not campaign for this. This is not what we thought MAGA was supposed to be. shame.’ And Eric Prince, the Trump backer and founder of Blackwater, said in a post, ‘I don’t see how this is in keeping with the President’s MAGA commitment. I’m disappointed.’

Watch me expose Trump’s lies and hypocrisies on Iran:

Other Republicans reacted with outrage after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio provided this rationale for taking military action in Iran:

‘We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action. We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces, and we knew that if we didn’t preemptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties.’

“Republican House member Thomas Massie from Kentucky wrote, ‘The administration admits Israel dragged us into the Iran war that’s already cost too many American lives and billions of dollars.’

“Tucker Carlson, the right wing influencer who the Atlantic reports met with Trump in recent weeks, tried to convince Trump not to be pressured by Israel. Carlson telling Trump, ‘you need to stand up to Israel, or else you’re going to be destroyed and the country is going to be destroyed. Adding Israel is a country of 9 million people with no resources. Why are we taking orders from them?’

“Matt Walsh, who is one of the prominent conservative podcasters posted about this on Sunday, so very early on, talking about the fact that the administration was saying that they killed the whole Iranian regime, but this was not a regime change war. They obliterated the nuclear program, but we had to do this because of the nuclear program. Iran was not planning an attack, but maybe they were planning an attack. So he’s pointing to the conflict in the different narratives of the Trump administration.”

Certainly this is not the entire MAGA movement, but rather a few critical pillars of it and Donald Trump, who has survived politically due to the cult-like nature of his support, cannot afford the dual cracks from his Epstein files cover up and now a war of choice justified with ever-shifting excuses.
