House Republicans Now Say Legislation Is Not Needed To Fix The Border

In the way back yester year of roughly a month ago, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was demanding that the border be part of any legislation that provided aid to Ukraine and Israel. Johnson claimed that legislation was required to fix the border.

After Biden and the Senate came to an agreement on legislation to deal with the border, Johnson changed his tune:

President Biden falsely claimed yesterday he needs Congress to pass a new law to allow him to close the southern border, but he knows that is untrue. As I explained to him in a letter late last year, and have specifically reiterated to him on multiple occasions since, he can and must take executive action immediately to reverse the catastrophe he has created.
