“How dare you compare him to MLK?,” Pastor Jamal Bryant said, rejecting the efforts to make Charlie Kirk into Martin Luther King, Jr. after his horrific assassination.

“The only thing that Charlie Kirk and Martin Luther King got in common is both of them was killed by a white man. After that, they got nothing else in common. In the Name of Jesus, I pray that you'll perform a miracle in this country, it does not necessitate turning water into wine,” the Pastor continued as he called for gun control.

“We're asking you that you will shift gun control in this country. I pray that our seniors will feel safe. I want our parents to feel safe sending their kids to school and not be alarmed fearing that there will be a school shooting like it was in Colorado on the exact same day. I pray, Dear Lord, that there will be a peace that passes all understanding.”

Roland Martin curated a collection of Black preachers across the country addressing the recent shooting of Charlie Kirk, and it really set the gaslighting straight. They emphasized the need for gun control and condemned Kirk’s divisive rhetoric, while pointing out that they can be sorry about his death, but not celebrate his life.

They tore down the hypocritical demand that everyone ignore political violence incited by white supremacists in order to honor a white supremacist.

Roland Martin gathered the clips and had a panel on to discuss them here in what might be the only discussion on political violence you need to see today:

Here are some other rather important quotes:

“Nowhere in the Bible we are told to honor evil.”

“How you died does not redeem how you lived.”

“I can be sorry about your death but not celebrate your life.”

Black pastors set the record straight amidst massively obsequious hypocrisy by the mainstream media, which is catering to the worst elements on the right — including the president.

Pastor Jamal Bryant prayed for a shift in gun laws and a spiritual revival. Reverend Dr. Marcus Cosby highlighted the historical context of political violence and warned against public positions that fuel division. Pastor Rudy McKissick condemned Kirk's divisive rhetoric and called for the church to rise above hate. Pastor Howard John Wesley criticized white supremacy, gun violence, and systemic injustices, urging the church to stand for liberation and justice.

This country is honoring a voice of hate, a voice so hateful that to quote him is a fireable offense now. A voice echoing ideas that incited violence against Black community so much so that after his tragic assassination, multiple historically Black HBCUs were threatened to the point of being locked down, even though there was no suggestion that they had anything to do with Kirk’s assassination.
