Nothing in politics happens by accident.

Cable news can’t stop talking about the meltdown that is happening inside Trump’s DOJ as Epstein files true believers like Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino are threatening to resign over the Trump administration’s reversal on releasing the info on the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Trump and his allies fueled the Epstein chatter for years. On the campaign trail, Trump vowed to release all of the information, but now that he is in office, after one documents dump that contained public information, AG Pam Bondi declared that there is no Epstein client list, after saying in February 2025 that the list was on her desk, and that nothing else would be released.

This has sent MAGA into a tailspin, and people like Bongino are threatening to quit unless Trump fires AG Bondi.

That is the backdrop for what Bondi has done.

Axios reported:

The new dismissals bring the total Smith-related firings to about 35. About 15 more could face termination.

Reuters reported Friday night that nine staffers had been let go, but Axios sources said the number was 20 and as many as 37 people could ultimately be let go from offices in Washington, Virginia, Florida and other parts of the country.

The 20 ousted Friday included lawyers, support staff and U.S. marshals, one Justice official said. In some cases, the staffers had volunteered for duty to investigate or prosecute Trump. Prior to Bondi taking office, 14 other Smith-related officials were fired.

MAGA is outraged and calling for Pam Bondi to be fired. Steve Bannon is running around telling anyone who will listen that Trump has lost ten points of his approval with his base for the Epstein flip-flop.
