It has been a topic of conversation for years. On issue after issue, Republicans complain about Trump and claim that this time they will stand up to him, but then Trump starts bullying, and the Republicans fall into line.
The question that most Americans don’t understand is why Republicans in the House and Senate often vote against their constituents’ best interests. Republicans knew that the reconciliation bill they voted for was detrimental to their home states, but they supported it nonetheless.
Former Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told SiriusXM’s Mornings With Zerlina what Republicans are afraid of.
Pelosi said:
Well, they're afraid of the elements of the Judiciary, I mean, of the Department of Justice. They're afraid of the FBI, they're afraid of all the fake investigations that he could start. And I'll tell you one other thing they're afraid of. They're afraid of what happened to us in our home, that one of the acolytes of Trump who just fed off of all that stuff on the social media, came into our home, invaded our home, attempted, actually thought he killed my husband. Thank God my husband survived. But that's what they're afraid of. They don't want their children threatened, their families threatened, their lives in jeopardy because they speak out against him.
And what did the president do after we were attacked? He made a joke of it, as did his family. So we're not talking about any sense of decency here. And I don't have any awareness of any faith activity of the President. And yet these evangelicals think that he's, I don't know what they think. I don't want to even use any of the language that they think about him. That's up to them. You know what it is.

The reasoning that Pelosi gave makes sense, but if enough Republicans came together to defy him, Donald Trump could not target them all. In a way, it is a matter of no Republican wants to be the one who stands with the few that have broken away because they know that they will also be targeted by Trump.
Republicans have given in to their fear and given up their power as a co-equal branch of government.
Pelosi’s description of why Republicans are afraid of Trump is why Republicans should not have power in Congress. The best way for Congress to be returned to its constitutional place as a co-equal branch of government is for Democrats to regain majorities in the House and Senate.

Senator Lisa Murkowski mentioned on stage how she received similar physical threats. I feel like that should have been news for more than 10 seconds.
I agree - as I have been saying this for at least a year - specifically consider how republicans have been so pro gun and make it as easy as possible for their constituents to get access to as many guns as possible. Well now, if they vote against trump, their own constituents will use their massive gun arsenal against them - hence they fear for themselves and family. The are stuck.
