Nancy Pelosi Destroys Chuck Schumer's Bogus Reasoning For Supporting Trump's CR

The False Choice That Some Senate Democrats Have Offered On Trump’s CR

On Friday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) explained to reporters why he was supporting Trump’s CR:

As I announced yesterday, I will vote to keep the government open. I believe it is the best way to minimize the harm that the Trump administration will do to the American people..the CR is a bad bill, but as bad as the is, I believe allowing Donald Trump to take even much more power via a government shutdown is a far worse option.

In a shutdown. Donald Trump and Doge will have the power to determine what is considered essential and what is not, and their views on what is not essential would be mean and vicious, and would decimate vital services and cause unimaginable harm to the American people.

Schumer’s reasoning is complete nonsense that sets up a false choice. Schumer is claiming that either Trump gets more power, but it checked, if the government stays open, or he gets even more power if the government is shut down.

What Chuck Schumer is leaving out of the conversation is that Republicans hold majorities in the House and Senate, and they are doing less than nothing to check Donald Trump.

Schumer’s idea that there will be this magic congressional check on Trump because the government is open is a fantasy that is intended to hide the real reason why some Democrats, not all, not even most, are turtling up and caving to empower Trump.

The idea is that Democrats would be blamed for a government shutdown, but this isn’t true.

We know it is not true because a new poll from Quinnipiac University showed that 53% of Americans would blame Trump or Republicans in Congress for a government shutdown. Just 22% would blame Democrats in Congress.

AOC, Bernie Sanders, Hakeem Jeffries, House Democrats, and the majority of Senate Democrats who have been fighting against the cowards that are caving to Trump.
