Musk Says He's Stepping Away from DOGE After Accomplishing Mostly Destruction
Elon Musk said he will be spending less time at Trump’s DOGE, which caused a rebound in the Tesla stock price. Meanwhile, DOGE has failed to meet its targets to such an extent that was its purpose.

After a bad earnings call for Tesla, Elon Musk is said to be spending less time at Trump’s DOGE, which caused a rebound in the Tesla stock price.
Al Jazeera reported:
The billionaire, who has become a controversial figure as the head of a government efficiency advisory panel, indicated the pivot shortly after Tesla reported a steep drop in quarterly profits.
The 71 percent drop comes as protests against Elon Musk – and the companies he owns – have grown, and as the electric vehicle market has become increasingly crowded with competitors.
“Probably in the next month, my time allocation to DOGE will drop significantly,” Musk said on an earnings conference call, referring to the Department of Government Efficiency that he runs.
But before people celebrate the back of Elon Musk, we don’t know what Musk is doing with DOGE in the first place. What did he do with the personal data of Americans he collected in what is most likely an illegal way?
A whistleblower recently reported that Musk’s DOGE caused a significant security breach in which Russians had access to Americans’ data.
“DOGE gained access to closely guarded data, including case files, and that could have led directly to a — quote — "significant cybersecurity breach,” PBS reported.
And it happened within 15 minutes of DOGE engineers creating accounts, which suggests that the Russian side of the equation already knew those account credentials.
Andrew Bakaj, Attorney for Daniel Berulis: If the administration is taking the position that having data exfiltrated out of the United States government and potentially into other nation-states, if that's about efficiency and effectiveness for the nation, it doesn't make any sense.
Within 15 minutes of DOGE engineers creating accounts, years, names and passwords within internal systems within DOGE, within 15 minutes of the creation of those accounts, somebody or something from Russia tried to log in with all of our credentials, meaning they had the right usernames and right passwords.
Russia is, again, a hostile foreign power.
Also, it doesn’t look like DOGE did what they claimed it would, bringing up questions of what Musk was really doing in DOGE.
DOGE hit just 7.5% of its “target savings” after embarrassing itself with a “Wall of Receipts” website replete with errors, exaggerations, misunderstandings of data, ignorance, and inflated numbers, including things like “claiming credit for a non-existent contract cancellation.”
Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), launched with bold promises to slash £1.56 trillion ($2 trillion) from US federal spending, has drastically underdelivered. By 22 April 2025, Musk admitted DOGE's projected savings for fiscal year 2026 are just £117 billion ($150 billion), a mere 7.5% of the original goal.
And that’s without calculating the massive costs of the lawsuits, leases ended early, illegal firings, rehiring, reinstatement and back pay, etc. When we consider the immeasurable damage and costs DOGE inflicted on the Trump Slump economy, like the on off cuts to federal grants surrounding preventative fire measures and Trump laying off nearly all of the federal workers who investigate firefighter deaths just as a few examples, the costs are not just dollars.
That damage is irreparable.
To make this all that much more hypocritical, much of the “fraud” found was actually based on investigations that took place under former President Joe Biden.
So we have to wonder, what was he really doing in DOGE.
Indeed, Financial Times asks this very question and suggests a possibility:
Yahoo News posits DOGE aims to rewind America to a pre-New Deal era, where industrialists like Musk faced minimal oversight.
Noting, “With Congress poised to scrutinise DOGE's impact in May 2025, the initiative's fate hangs in the balance.”
LOL Congressional oversight. We can dream, I guess.
And surprise! surprise!, there will actually be no “DOGE Dividend” tax rebates for the Little People. Yet another Trump/Musk broken promise sold to Lesser Mortals while they enrich themselves.
Elon Musk did not get rid of fraud, waste and abuse during his time at the misnamed “DOGE.” He managed to cancel investigations into himself and his companies, illegally get his hands on Americans’ precious private data, fire thousands of federal workers, undermine American national security, and inflicted damage that will not be identified until the crises happen that the government used to work to prevent.
Elon Musk is a national security risk, and every single lawmaker defending his illegal access to Americans’ data should be fired.

Unless he can unbreak what he broke, I suspect most Americans won’t reverse course on the Tesla boycott.
It seems he has all the illegal information to ruin us
