Mike Johnson's Ultimate Humiliation As MAGAs Seize The Floor And Close The House

Speaker Mike Johnson was forced to close the House and send members home for the week after a group of MAGA Trump allies blocked passage of a rule, which essentially shut down the floor.

There have been rumblings that Donald Trump has soured on Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), and what happened on the House floor on Tuesday was proof of a Republican rebellion against the Speaker.

Trump and his allies want the SAVE America Act passed again in the House. Johnson tried to pass a rule that would have attached the SAVE America Act to the NDAA.

Before the bill could move to a final vote, a rule had to be passed, and that is when everything fell apart for Johnson.

Before the rule vote, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) posted on X:

The current plan being proposed by HOUSE GOP to “MIRV” NDAA + SAVE AMERICA is a procedural head fake. This does not do anything but guarantee the Senate will EASILY TAKE OUT SAVE America from the NDAA.

HOUSE GOP LEADERSHIP SHOULD allow an AMENDMENT to ATTACH VOTER ID + PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP or SAVE America to the ACTUAL TEXT of NDAA. IF IT IS NOT DONE THIS WAY, IT WILL EASILY BE TAKEN OUT.

If we do it as an amendment, the way that I proposed it, the Senate would need 60 votes to pass the legislation without SAVE America attached. Meaning it would be harder for them to TAKE it out.

What Trump and his allies don’t understand is that no matter how hard they make it, Republicans are going to take the SAVE America Act out of the NDAA.

The vote happened, and 14 House Republicans voted against the rule.
