Why Is DHS Secretary Mayorkas Being Impeached?

Today, the House Homeland Security Committee will markup articles of impeachment being presented by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to impeach DHS Secretary Mayorkas.

Why is Mayorkas being impeached?

According to Fox News’s Chad Pergram impeachment is happening because Speaker Mike Johnson promised Marjorie Taylor Greene a Mayorkas impeachment.

I've introduced articles of impeachment not only on Mayorkas, on Joe Biden, on Matthew Graves and others..the reason why people aren't seeing many articles of impeachment actually marked up is most of them are sitting on shelves in the Judiciary Cmte collecting dust.

Greene is upset that she hasn’t been able to get her articles of impeachment against all of her targets through the House Judiciary Committee and onto the House floor, so she is ramming the markup of the Mayorkas articles through the Homeland Security Committee.

There has been no impeachment investigation authorized into Mayorkas, and Republicans are impeaching the Secretary of Homeland Security because their base wants revenge for Trump’s impeachments. Plus, Republicans think that they can use impeachment to help the party in the 2024 election, but as we will discuss below, the opposite has already happened.
