Transcripts Show That Hur’s Smear About Biden’s Age Was Wrong
Remember when corporate media jumped all over Robert Hur’s opinions and conclusions about Biden’s age to proclaim that the President was too old and his age was THE ISSUE of the election?
During his House Judiciary Committee testimony, Hur was confronted with the transcript of Biden’s interview showing that the President did remember the date of his son Beau’s death. Even when confronted with evidence, Hur claimed that he was correct, and the transcript was wrong.
Elsewhere in his testimony, Hur admitted that Biden isn’t senile.
The whole portrait of Biden as a president who is too old to do the job was shredded to bits by this hearing.
Republican Judiciary Committee Chair Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) wanted this hearing because he is trying to drum up an impeachment case against Biden for his handling of classified documents.
The hearing itself was the usual House Republican fiasco that appeared to exist in a different universe from the House Democrats, many of whom are former prosecutors, who posed some very interesting questions to Special Counsel Hur, such as would he take an appointment in a potential next Trump administration, and why did he use politically explosive language in his report.
It turns out that Robert Hur’s opinions were just that, opinions, but that didn’t stop the corporate media from running wild with them and treating Hur’s statements like facts.
Hur’s claims about Biden’s age and mental fitness have proven to be false, and when a responsible journalistic organization posts something that they later find out is mistaken or false, they issue corrections.
The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and cable news have a lot of correcting to do.
