A Mexican man who lived in Dallas for decades has died in ICE custody. He was a lawful permanent resident. He is the seventh person to die in ICE custody in Texas this year, while at least 29* people have reportedly died in ICE custody this year.
On Saturday, 56-year-old Emiliano Andrade-Covarrubias died on October 17, 2026 while in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody at the Rio Grande Processing Center in Texas. Contrary to the narratives being sold by Republicans, he was a lawful permanent resident in the country, according to the Texas Tribune, which asked the agency about his status.
Andrade-Covarrubias had been in detention since June. His cause of death is still unknown. ICE claims he received proper medical care, but his daughter says he was not given the medication he needed for diabetes, a heart condition and high blood pressure.
“He had medicine with him when he was detained, but she said staff at the center wouldn’t ‘give him his medications.’”
His daughter said he developed a cough and felt sick, but he was still ignored. His family were concerned because after he had COVID-19 in 2021, his health had declined.

In 2021, a large swath of MAGA were pretending COVID-19 wasn’t real, was just the “flu”, as they actively fear-mongered about the vaccine.
In 2020, it was suggested that the MAGA Death Cult of Donald Trump took out at least 100,000 Americans due to mismanagement. The NIH concluded that failed leadership was at fault, attributing the high death toll to the Trump “Administration's failure to proactively address the threat and effectively manage the pandemic…”
Trump was busy copying China’s gaslighting about the pandemic, and surprise, it failed to such an extent that even the fascist-washing New York Times noted that “one country stands alone, as the only affluent nation to have suffered a severe, sustained outbreak for more than four months: the United States.”
