Suddenly, Donald Trump and his administration stopped talking about Los Angeles. There have been no more National Guard troops federalized or Marines deployed.
It is like the story vanished.
A reason for that can be found in the latest polling as summed up by CNN data guru Harry Enten:
I think we can say that Donald Trump has lost the political battle. When it comes to what has happened out in Los Angeles, Donald Trump's net approval rating on the Los Angeles process. Look at this overall way, way, way underwater at minus 15 points. How about among Independents or those who don't have, identify with either major party way, even lower?
Look at that minus 24 points on the net approval rating, and of course, this is happening on what should be one of Donald Trump's, in fact, the best issue for Donald Trump immigration. o these Los Angeles protests, 15 points underwater overall and 24 points underwater among Independents.
No good.
What is the broader view of, of how Trump is acting and what he's doing when it comes to these arrests of immigrants?
Let's wind it out a little bit and I think this sort of paints a picture for you in understanding why Donald Trump's net approval rating on the Los Angeles protests are as low as they are.
Trump and immigrant arrests, he's gone too far. That's the winner here. 49%. Not too far, only 40%. So you got a nine-point lead here. And again, among those Independents or other categories, you see 51% of them say Trump's gone too far. And what's so important to note, is that this poll was taken after, after the Los Angeles protest started. So this takes into account everything that's gone out in Los Angeles at this particular point.
If the protesters idea was to focus the attention on Donald Trump and bring attention to his immigration policies and bring attention to the arrest that had been occurring of immigrants.
It seems to me that those protests have been successful because you see here, 49% say Trump's gone too far compared to just 40% who say he's not gone too far. And you don't have to be a mathematical genius. No. 49% is larger than 40% by quite a bit.

The lesson here is that the protests worked. If people in the Los Angeles area had been intimidated by the National Guard and Marines on their streets, the polling might look a lot different.
The situation in Los Angeles is so insignificant that Trump sent JD Vance to Los Angeles on Friday.
If political leaders in Los Angeles and California had not been so vocal, Trump might have gotten his way. If Sen. Padilla had not been assaulted and handcuffed by federal law enforcement while trying to ask Kristi Noem a question, the perception might not be what it is.
Trump launched his attack on Los Angeles for political reasons so that he could militarize immigration raids around the country.
The people of Los Angeles were too smart for Trump. They were too disciplined. They didn’t take the bait that Trump put out there.
As a result, the people have prevailed in the court of public opinion, and Donald Trump has lost.

Way to go LA & California! Each & every state, city, town, etc. must do exactly the same thing. The Dodgers just provided another great example for businesses to follow. We need to help these people as much as possible. This insanity has gone way too far & it's got to stop. American citizens are getting caught up in this mess along with citizens from places like Germany, Canada, Australia. The masked gestapo must be stopped & what's with grabbing people off the street without a warrant, without identifying themselves????😡 I've read stories of criminals pretending to be immigration officers in order to assault & harrass people.
We need to keep this up Everywhere!
