I have been looking for something like this. I’m now retired, but have been an immigrant twice in my lifetime. First from Cuba, in the ‘60s and later from Nicaragua in the ‘70. I’ve been trying to convince my friends and family about our present situation, but most immediately refuse to believe and see, what I had seen and experienced before. I’m with all of you and ready to participate in this movement!

But.

Here's the thing. The protests are good because they are allowing us to vent, and they also reflect that there is a huge percentage of the population that is mad as hell that there has been a takeover of the country. But Trump doesn't give a damn about protests, and he couldn't care less, nor could anyone in MAGA. Therefore...

What I'm waiting for is a new approach. This isn't the McCarthy era when a senator could stand up and shout, "Have you no shame, sir?" and be given a reasonable response. Because in those days there actually was shame.

We are in new terrain. And this is why the protests are not going to change policy. The system that Miller et al. have put in place is designed to absorb the protests. We have to find a new strategy.

This is a time for creative thinking, for playing fire with fire, for finding a new way to force them down. The country has already been taken over. We are now fighting to take it back, and hopefully to mitigate the damage already done or will be coming.

A brand. New. Strategy. And plan. So how will we proceed? What will we do that is new?

I don’t know what to do other than call and write my legislators and join peacedul protests. People are frustrated and angry; perhaps seeing protests they see others feeling the same as they , hopefully influencing them to take an action in what ever way they can. I’m glad to see this group form a resistance plan.

I so hope you’re right, Jill. Completely agree that we cannot let our feet off the pedal here!

Jill - thank you for your thoughts. I’m not sure what our next big, effective counterattack is…..but I know that a protest of 10 million and then 20 million and then 30 million and then……. Would get someone’s attention. “We the People” need to get off the couch and just do it - make your sign, and stand in solidarity and be counted. Millions……

Citizens don't love Country as much as they like their Stuff. The tyranny of convenience has settled in. Humanity seems on the down side of any collective and collaborative success.

This has to change. Decide what we absolutely need, and stop with the rampant consumerism.

A phone call to one Rep is good - but is only heard by that person. Exercising your rights loudly on a street corner emboldens hundreds of others. Visibility is a powerful tool to inspire change - that’s why the founding fathers gave us the right to speak out to power.

Protests are to encourage more & more people to join up together to fight this several-headed monster. And when we reach a point, (some say 3.5%) we will take back our country!

I am 84 and do not want to die believing that the country and democracy that I have loved and been proud of for all my life is dying with me. My husband and I are old (88) and not well but want to help in any way possible. The last National election we participated in writing letters. We do not believe that it was an honest election. Trump and his cronies are corrupt and belong in jail.

So once you do get to the site, it’s listing freedoms in drop-downs and it’s clearly set up to collect data from joiners and accept donations, but aside from those functionalities, what actually is the purpose of the group or what to they intend to do as an organization? Maybe that’s the whole thing or maybe more to come? That would be a great add for the next version.
