The Trump administration has ordered the halting of billions in federal aid.
The shock and awe portion of the new administration continues with reporting that Trump’s budget office ordered a total freeze on “all federal financial assistance” — but this does not include Social Security or Medicare, according to a memo obtained by Politico.
“Trump pauses federal spending for wide swath of government, in what looks like a jaw-dropping grab for spending power,” Senior national reporter at HuffPo Jonathan Cohn wrote.
Allegedly, this order is to stop the use of federal money (your tax dollars) on things Trump doesn’t like.
"The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve,” Marisa Kabas wrote, explaining the memo on BlueSky.
Of course, this is actually a huge power grab over Congress and over federal money. It’s just being justified under the guise of being anti-woke. This in an of itself is against what the American people actually want, though.
It turns out, even as companies are killing off their DEI programs, 67% of Americans believe it’s “important for companies to speak out on diversity and inclusion in the workforce,” according to new research from Morning Consult.
What Is It Really?
“If I had to guess, they'll pause all discretionary low-income grant programs (but probably won't touch most of the mandatory ones). I'd guess this illegally pauses: -WIC (nutrition for pregnant moms & newborns) -Section 8 housing -LIHEAP (helps households heat homes in winter),” Senior Director of Federal Budget Policy at CAP Action Bobby Kogan wrote last night.
