Kash Patel's Days Look Numbered As Senate Democrats Warn An Investigation Is Coming
After a bombshell report that alleged FBI Director Kash Patel is engaging in erratic behavior and drinking heavily, Senate Democrats sent a loud signal that an investigation is coming.
Over the weekend, The Atlantic reported that FBI Director Kash Patel is allegedly worried about his job, behaving erratically, and drinking heavily:
Patel, according to multiple current officials, as well as former officials who have stayed close to him, is deeply concerned that his job is in jeopardy. He has good reasons to think so—including some having to do with what witnesses described to me as bouts of excessive drinking. My colleague Ashley Parker and I reported earlier this month that Patel was among the officials expected to be fired after Attorney General Pam Bondi’s ouster, on April 2.
“We’re all just waiting for the word” that Patel is officially out of the top job, an FBI official told me this week, and a former official told my colleague Jonathan Lemire that Patel was “rightly paranoid.” Senior members of the Trump administration are already discussing who might replace him, according to an administration official and two people close to the White House who were familiar with the conversations.
The Atlantic story is a big problem because if true, the nation has an unstable FBI Director with a drinking problem.

With the odds of a Democratic takeover of the Senate improving, Sens. Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin wrote to the DOJ and ordered them to preserve records related to Patel.
Schumer and Durbin wrote to acting AG Todd Blanche:
Unlike in the House, the minority party can’t launch its own investigations in the Senate, so this step is about putting pressure on the administration to get rid of Patel and preparing for a potential investigation if Democrats take back the Senate in the midterm election.
Patel’s filing of a defamation suit against The Atlantic looks like a move to buy himself some time and potentially save his job.
Some inside the Trump administration have been looking to get rid of Patel for months. Director Patel seems to be straight out of the Kristi Noem school of living it up on the taxpayer’s dime.
Patel has also run afoul of the administration because he previously demanded the full release of the Epstein files.
If Kash Patel is still the FBI Director after the midterm election, and Democrats win back control of the Senate, Democrats will be building a big investigation into Patel.
