The media’s special treatment of Donald Trump remains a growing threat to the fate of our democracy.
Convicted felon and adjudicated rapist Donald Trump gave a press conference full of lies and obvious cognitive decline yesterday, with Jason noting, “Trump looked disastrously crazy, old, incoherent, and like he had no idea how to run against Kamala Harris. The negativity of his remarks was off the charts.”
Harris-Walz 2024 spokesperson Ammar Moussa sent us a statement moments ago noting how odd it was that Trump’s meltdown wasn’t front-page news:
“In any other world, Donald Trump’s public meltdown would generate wall-to-wall coverage, think pieces, op-eds, and calls for him to step down or submit to a cognitive test. A ranting and raving Donald Trump is definitely shook after seeing Vice President Harris’ crowd sizes and the grassroots energy behind our campaign, and how he’s getting crushed in fundraising and on the airwaves.”
“Trump will keep whining – and lying – on air for whatever cameras will give him attention. We’ll be talking to the voters who will decide this election. See you September 10, Donald.”
Yes, it’s a wonder that the New York Times’ front page isn’t full of opinion pieces about how he needs to drop out of the race. In fact, not a single corporate, mainstream paper thought it was front page-worthy. The only paper that got it right was the British paper The Guardian, the front page of which noted that Trump falsely claimed no one was killed on January 6th. Notably, The Guardian has only one shareholder. They also have no stake in incentives like American tax breaks for the wealthy.
Here’s a look at just how derelict our media is in their basic duty to inform. Special bonus to the New York Times, who almost sent themselves to the ER with hysteria over President Biden’s age but now can’t be bothered to even wake up when Trump can’t manage a sentence without a muddled, disordered deception:
Close ups of the New York Times — do you see ANY mention of the fact that Trump lied almost in every sentence, made up words, struggled to make sense, and told a story about a helicopter ride in which he used the wrong name and even had the wrong person?
Our corporate press did nothing but fawn over Trump.
