Jasmine Crockett Predicts Defeat For Trump Texas Gerrymander
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) predicted that the Trump gerrymander of Texas will not be used in 2026 and the state will use its current House district map.
The Trump gerrymander could be turning into a disaster for the Republicans’ desire to keep the House. The GOP is getting trounced on the generic ballot, which suggests that the Democratic House gains could be in the dozens of seats next year.
Donald Trump’s big idea was to try to rig the 2026 election by having red states do mid-decade gerrymanders to eliminate Democratic seats.
The big prize was Texas, which Trump got to create five more Republican leaning seats.
After a federal court ruled the Texas map illegal, the state is going to the Supreme Court, but has very little time to secure a ruling before the December 8 filing deadline.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett was on NBC’s Meet The Press NOW where she talked about what is next for the Texas Trump gerrymander:
KRISTEN WELKER: Texas is appealing that ruling to the Supreme Court. What are you anticipating will happen? Do you think that the GOP maps will hold or do you think they’ll go back to the 2021 maps?
REP. JASMINE CROCKETT: I think we’ll be on the 2021 maps. A couple of things that are important for us to denote in this is that number one, this was a temporary injunction, so as it relates to the fact that this was signed into law, we did not have enough time to flesh out and have a full-blown trial, but this three-judge panel was able to have a 10-day hearing where they heard testimony, and that is something that the Supreme Court justices do not have the benefit of is actually listening to the testimony and judging the credibility of the witnesses.
One of the most important witnesses that was brought forth was actually the map drawer. The map drawer that they hid from the plaintiffs the entire time we were fighting the ’21 lines, but they decided to put him on the stand this time and the court did not find him to be credible. And I think that is so integral and important, especially since he drew the ’21 maps, and they had argued for four years that there is no racism here, that these are beautiful, amazing maps, but all of a sudden you decided that she wanted to change the maps.
