Is This Why Sydney Sweeney Was at Bezos' Wedding?
Sydney Sweeney made headlines when she was spotted at the Bezos-Sánchez wedding in Venice, with people wondering if guests had been paid to appear. Well, maybe in a way?

Billionaire Jeff Bezos has decided that the world is going to be his oyster.
And so his latest wedding became infamous for its estimated $55 million environmental assault on a city already struggling with overtourism and protests of the lavish wedding due to his failure to pay his fair share of taxes amid skyrocketing wealth inequality.
It became a controversial event to attend, even though the couple donated to local charities.
And yet, many celebrities were spotted there including Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Corey Gamble, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Bill Gates, Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, Usher, Leonardo DiCaprio and Sydney Sweeney.
There’s no point in delving into some of these folks’ willingness to be seen at this event in the Age of Greed, but Lauren Sherman, Rachel Strugatz, and Sarah Shapiro at Puck just offered up a reasonable explanation for why Sweeney was there - and it’s pretty much exactly as people speculated.
In a way, Sweeney had money on the table.
Sydney Sweeney has taken selling soap infused with her dirty bathwater to the next level, and is now launching a lingerie label, which is backed by a private equity fund that is backed by Bezos.
“Well, it turns out that Sweeney did have a reason to be there: She is launching a lingerie label, which I’m told is being backed by Ben Schwerin, a partner at Coatue, the private equity company. I don’t know much about the arrangement—Bezos and Michael Dell just backed the Coatue Innovation Fund with $1 billion—but I do know the connector here is Schwerin, Snap’s former head of partnerships, who is friends with all of these people. That might explain both Sweeney’s presence at the wedding, or at least why she recently posted a series of photos posing in lingerie and swimwear with the model Amélie Tremblay,” Puck reported.
As for Sweeney, she’s no stranger to controversy. Critics weren’t happy after she shared a photo in which an attendee at her mom’s August 2022 “surprise hoedown” birthday party “was seen wearing a 'Blue Lives Matter' shirt. When fans reviewed Sweeney's brother's Instagram post, they soon realized that one of the party favours was inspired by Donald Trump's 'MAGA' hat,” Etalk wrote.
The red hats were all over the hoedown. Just a a year and a half after the inspiration hat caused a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol resulting in acts of deadly violence.
Sweeney then claimed on Twitter, "An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions.”
“The people who brought the things that people were upset about were actually my mom’s friends from LA who have kids that are walking outside in the Pride parade, and they thought it would be funny to wear because they were coming to Idaho,” the actress/dirty bathwater saleswoman explained in August of 2023, a year later.
Yes, nothing to see here! Just people from LA who think it’s funny to wear MAGA-inspired merch at their hoedown. This could happen to anyone, really. Anyone who isn’t touched by what’s been going on in this country since 2016.
We are in the Age of Greed and everything is for sale — including, perhaps, Vogue. Yes, Bezos is rumored to be buying Vogue for his wife, or maybe the entire Condé Nast enterprise, although the family that currently owns it and sources close to Bezos have denied it.
Even the idea of a billionaire buying up yet another media outlet is sickening at this point, as is watching artists – who are supposed to fight fascism – cashing in at the expense of the planet, the country, and the people.
What happens when the people with money and power give up even trying to look like decent people? They enable things like this:
ICE detained a U.S. citizen outside a Home Depot in the San Fernando Valley.
He shouted, “I’m an American citizen!” — but it didn’t stop them.
Another man was detained just for speaking up.
And a woman warned an ICE agent: “You’re next. You’re not white. What do you think is going to happen to you?”
📍 This happened in a public parking lot. In broad daylight. While people were just trying to work.
So where’s Home Depot’s response?
The people doing deals with folks who are helping to destroy the world are part of the problem, and there is no way to escape that truth in the end.
We are deep in a time of callous disregard for others, as modeled so well by Jeff Bezos types like Elon Musk and Donald Trump, which makes it no surprise to find these same suspiciously behaving people embracing the “f*ck your feelings” party run by an adjudicated rapist.
If a person can do that with no shame, there is really nothing internal guiding them in any ethical direction. Shudder. And so they continue to enrich themselves as armed masked people kidnap American citizens off of the streets, closing ranks around the people enabling and justifying the violent autocracy taking over the United States.
Although Washington Post CEO Jeff Lewis has denied any wrongdoing in the Murdoch illegal news gathering scandal, it’s fair to speculate that Bezos would have a hard time finding another accused expert at covering-up for criminal news gathering to run Vogue. After all, as Trump’s dealings demonstrate daily, no one takes orders better than someone with a lot on the line and a history to hide.
Oh, that’s right. Bezos has his wife for that now. How very Donald Trump of him.
As the protesters in Venice chanted, the 1% is ruining the world. And they are gleeful about it, so long as they get theirs.
Eventually, everyone wakes up alone. The horror of a life built on selfish greed won’t keep them warm at night or help them sleep. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to live with the consequences of these people’s actions.
Everything truly is political, now more than ever.

Has anyone who hired these undocumented workers ever faced any accountability? I'm sure trump has hired plenty of them.
I have no idea who this person is. Sounds like yet another asshole with little to contribute to the world who has managed to become filthy rich anyway.
