Iowans Pack the Statehouse to Protest Unprecedented Bill
Following a week of protests in Iowa, the statehouse was packed with hundreds of protesters chanting as both chambers prepared to debate removing “gender identity” from the state Civil Rights code.

As many despair, resistors are using their angst to make sure their lack of consent is documented. Following a week of protests in Iowa, the statehouse was packed as both chambers prepared to debate removing “gender identity” from the state Civil Rights code.
“Chanting filled the Iowa Capitol hallways Thursday as House lawmakers began hearing public testimony on a bill that would eliminate civil rights protections for transgender Iowans,” Des Moines Register reported.
“Hundreds of Iowans again packed the Iowa Capitol rotunda to protest the bill, waving pride flags, holding signs and chanting "no hate in our state" and "you represent us." A line of protesters led out the building’s door as more people waited to be let inside.”
The statehouse was packed.
“The statehouse is packed with people as a 90-minute public hearing is underway for an unprecedented bill. If it is debated and passed today in the Iowa House and Senate, Gov. Reynolds could sign this bill as soon as today.
“The bill would remove gender identity as a protected class under the Iowa Civil Rights Act. It would also explicitly define male and female,” a Reddit user posted above the following photos:
