There is a reason why Iran is not intimidated by Trump's threats, because the president has told aides that it is all a bluff to scare Iran into making a deal to end the war.

Every presidential administration takes on the attitude and mannerisms of the president. This is in part because presidents choose the people who serve in their administrations, and secondly, there is an element of pleasing the boss in any Executive Branch operation.

Even presidents who try to build their administrations with diverse opinions and voices will end up with an administration whose personality and beliefs rub off on the organizational culture.

Given that administrations often mirror the president leading them, it is natural that the second Trump administration would leak regularly, because Donald Trump can’t keep the quiet part quiet and has an inability to keep anything secret.

At least once a week, Donald Trump threatens to wipe Iran off the map and destroy its civilization. At first, the world was appalled that the president was threatening to commit war crimes, but Iran hasn’t budged. The Iranians have stuck to their demands in negotiations and reclosed the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranians have been threatened with extinction by the world’s biggest military, and it has gotten Trump nothing.

Thanks to the president’s inability to shut up, we now know why.
