ICE Melts As Trump Is Caving In Minnesota
Trump caused the shooting deaths of two Americans in Minneapolis, and as Republicans continue to defect, the president is scrambling and caving in Minnesota.
The news that Greg Bovino, the now former commander of the border patrol, was the most visible sign that Trump is in the middle of a full-on cave-in in Minnesota.
Trump’s behavior is part of an ongoing pattern. The Trump presidency is attempting to operate as an imperial presidency.
The term imperial presidency was coined by Arthur Schlesinger Jr. to describe the overreach and accumulation of executive power at the expense of Congress during the Nixon administration. It was at this time that the theory that, if the president does it, it’s legal first emerged.

Schlesinger wrote about imperial presidencies in terms of foreign policy. Trump has embraced the imperial presidency to mean that the executive is above the other branches of government and can rule unchecked in both foreign and domestic affairs.
The Trump administration seized on the vaguely written statutes that created the Department of Homeland Security and the nation’s antiquated immigration laws to use military-style force in the nation’s cities under the pretense of immigration operations.
When Trump’s forces murdered an American citizen on the streets of Minneapolis, MN, and falsely claimed that the victim was brandishing a gun, the blowback came from within his own party, along with the rest of the country.
What began as a shift in Minnesota has turned into a full-on cave.
