House Democrats To Keep The Government Funded
Of all of the twists and turns of our beautifully genius system of governance, the House of Representatives is one of the most straightforward.
There is no 60-vote rule in the House to pass legislation. It is a straight majority rule. The party with the majority rules. No concessions have to be made, and no coalitions have to be built across party lines. If the majority has 218 votes in a full House, they can do whatever they want.
The most daunting task for a Speaker of the House has been building coalitions within their own majority to pass legislation. An all-time great speaker like Nancy Pelosi made it look easy, even though it is very difficult.
All in all, the House been traditionally been pretty easy to follow.
Until the current Republican majority arrived on the scene.
