On The Five, the question was posed, what happens if Trump goes to jail?

The answer was that he can be president from jail.

When confronted with the possibility that the Republican nominee could get elected and then get sent to prison, the message from Fox News was that voters should not worry about it, because if necessary, they can convert Trump’s jail cell into an incarcerated Oval Office.

The first reaction is that Trump supporters are a cult, so of course, they would downplay the idea that he might get convicted and sent to jail, but there are many more layers to what the Republican Party is selling itself, and we will discuss some of those below.
