Hakeem Jeffries Stares Down Trump And Mike Johnson And Wins
The days of Democrats going along for the good of the country with whatever Republicans are doing appear to be over.
After Donald Trump and Elon Musk blew up the first bipartisan bill to fund the government through March 14, 2025, and the president-elect demanded that Democrats vote to raise the debt ceiling so that he could cut taxes for the wealthy, House Democrats said no and walked away.
Democrats voted against Trump’s plan, and then Johnson came up with a Plan C which was to vote on the legislation in pieces. Plan C lasted for a few hours after it was made clear that Democrats would not go along with it.
