Fox News Melts Down As Churches Use Nativity Scenes To Protest ICE
Fox News is outraged again as Nativity scenes depict Baby Jesus in zip ties and a Holy Family kidnapped by ICE and thus missing ICE.
“As you did unto the least of these, you did unto Me.”
‘Tis the season for the Fox News flip out over their imagined “war on Christmas,” usually brought to them via a holiday cup that reads Happy Holidays instead of their preferred pronoun of Merry Christmas.

And boy, do we ever have a war on Christmas this year! Or, well, actually… It’s the true spirit of Christmas, which is perceived as an attack by Republicans because they tend to view anything other than full control over other people’s religious beliefs as a war on their own beliefs.
Several churches are using the season to bring attention to the plight of the vulnerable and the real story of the Nativity scene.
Franciscan media wrote in 2024, “Sometimes we might easily forget the hidden details of the Christmas story: that Joseph, Mary, and Jesus were refugees, fleeing from an evil dictator plotting destruction of the infant Jesus. September 29 is known as the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. May we not forget what the Holy Family endured while finding ways to work for greater justice for those fleeing their country.”
ICE WAS HERE
A church in Dedham, Massachusetts displayed an “ICE was here” sign where Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus should be in their Nativity scene, suggesting that Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus were taken by ICE.
The church made sure people understand that the Holy Family were immigrants, with a sign reading: “The Holy Family is safe in our Church... If you see ICE please call LUCE at 617-370-5023.”
“What is the objective by doing this? To help people recognize the plight of people who are really in dire need, and how are we treating them,” Rev. Stephen Josoma, whose idea this was, told WCVB. “We’re supposed to bring out the best of people in Christmas.”
C.J. Doyle, an angry Executive Director of the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, claimed he received a “call” to complain about it. (That reads like one call. One complaint. maybe from his assistant.)
And so he attacked the priest for his alleged history of “crackpot political stunts” and claimed the true message of the Nativity scene actually takes away from the Christmas message. “This is not right, it’s divisive, it’s disrespectful, it takes away from the essential Christmas message.”
Is his idea of the essential Christmas message ‘shop and submit’?
Father Stephen Josoma told Boston.com that it’s a church tradition to use the Nativity scene to “hold the mirror up to what’s happening, and this year, it seemed to be, my God, it seemed to be right there in front of us.”
The mirror is making the guilty and the complicit uncomfortable. As it should.
Baby Jesus in Zip Ties
“We just really saw a parallel between the ICE forces and the centurions.”
In Illinois, the Lake Church of Evanston’s Nativity scene depicts the Holy Family protesting an ICE detention center, with Mother Mary wearing a respirator mask to protect from Trump’s terrorists’ careless and dangerous abuse of tear gas against peaceful people.
Baby Jesus is zip-tied, like ICE has done to children, and wrapped in an aluminum foil blanket.
Roman centurions dressed as ICE surround them.
