House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) was forced into subpoenaing the Epstein files by the committee’s Democrats, but Comer seems to be doing all that he can to assist in the Trump cover-up.
There is just one problem. The witnesses aren’t playing along.
Former Trump Attorney General William Barr was deposed by the committee, and Oversight Committee ranking Democratic member Robert Garcia (D-CA) said in a statement:
Releasing the Epstein files in batches just continues this White House cover-up. The American people will not accept anything short of the full, unredacted Epstein files. In a bipartisan vote, the Committee demanded complete compliance with our subpoena. Handpicked, partial productions are wholly insufficient and potentially misleading, especially after Attorney General Bondi bragged about having the entirety of the Epstein files on her desk mere months ago.
And to be clear, yesterday, during his deposition with the Committee, Attorney General Barr could not clear President Trump of wrongdoing. Chairman Comer should release the full, unedited transcript of his interview for the public.
We will keep pressing until the American people get the truth—every document, every fact, in full. The administration must comply with our subpoena, by law.
It would be very helpful for the American people to see Barr’s full interview transcript, but the fact that Donald Trump’s own AG could not clear him of any wrongdoing in Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes is telling.
Trump is so desperate to change the subject that he is now trying to play world leader, or peace president, as his press secretary Karoline Leavitt calls him.
Barr’s inability to clear Trump will only serve to add more smoke to the Epstein fire.
Democrats are correct. They need to keep the pressure on.
There is even more smoke surrounding Trump and the Epstein story.
To date, there is no evidence that Trump committed a crime, but if he is innocent, why has the president refused to release the files and appears to be engaging in a cover-up to prevent the information from becoming public?
If his former attorney general can’t clear Trump, that leaves some serious questions to be answered.
The Epstein scandal isn’t going away, and the House Republican investigation could end up making the story unintentionally worse for Trump.

I am happy to see Barr tell the TRUTH for a change. The committee should also subpoena Merrick Garland and ask him why he didn’t pursue an indictment of Trump for raping children! Merrick the Meek was USELESS as AG!!!
Barr was Trump’s consigliere; his Cromwell. He visited Epstein days before he died. Barr is complicit with whatever Trump was up to. The Epstein files need to be released NOW!
