No Longer a Trillionaire
A month ago, Elon Musk was riding high as the world’s first trillionaire.
But now after Elon’s promises failed to deliver, Tesla shares have tumbled after disappointing quarterly results, and SpaceX is off 50% from its highs.

While the historic June 12 initial public offering of SpaceX briefly pushed his net worth past $1 trillion, subsequent slumps dropped his fortune below the threshold according to Forbes.
“Reality Bites Elon Musk and His Tesla, SpaceX Believers. Shares of EV company tumble 15% after disappointing quarterly results, and rocket maker is off 50% from its highs,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
“Musk’s bad week: Tesla suffers worst slump since 2022, SpaceX drops ahead of Starship test flight,” CNBC reported.
Elon Musk’s cultural relevance is much less than he thought it was. It might be said that he overhyped his cultural relevance, much like he overhyped Tesla and SpaceX.
Superfans Struggle
The South African immigrant who is now a US citizen loves to parrot “go woke, go broke!” on X. But in reality, it’s the anti-woke Musk fanboys who are effectively going broke. Even his “superfans” are having trouble maintaining their cope.
“Elon has ruined me,” one Redditor posted on r/WallStreetBets.
Other fanboys whined and made sarcastic comments including, “It sure would be cool if this stops crashing… 30 percent short interest and down 40 percent on the month,” one fanboy groused. “I believed in you and lost over 20k in a month. I really hope that it comes back.”
The WSJ included this sad lament by a superfan, “I love Tesla and have been a superfan for well over a decade. If these goals are so uncertain, please just don’t share them. Say whatever you want internally, but to say them publicly and not even get close does nothing but hurt the company and many following it.”
Musk did have what operates-as-Trump-state-media CBS “News” is calling a “successful” rocket launch on Friday as SpaceX's 13th Starship test flight went mostly as planned.
Will the fanboys ever figure out that sharing uncertain goals publicly has been Musk’s modus operandi from the start?
