House Oversight Committee Democrats sent numerous letters to agencies within the Trump administration requesting background checks, government contracts, and other information related to Elon Musk.
Oversight Committee Democrats announced, “Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, led Committee Democrats in sending letters to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, White House Chief of Staff Susan Wiles, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and FBI Director Kash Patel demanding information about Elon Musk’s ties to foreign governments like China and Russia, Musk’s growing treasure chest of government contracts awarded to his companies, the history of his drug use, and potential liabilities that would make him vulnerable to coercion and corruption.”
Ranking Member Gerry Connolly wrote:
The Democratic Members of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform are conducting an investigation into Elon Musk, special government employee and senior adviser to President Donald Trump, and the extensive ties he has to China, Russia, and other foreign governments and officials.
Given the vast and growing number of government contracts awarded to Mr. Musk and his companies, including from the Department of Defense (DOD), General Services Administration (GSA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)—as well as the multiple conflicts of interest arising from them—the Democratic Members of the Committee are interested in whether he has fully disclosed all connections, interactions, payments, and business with foreign governments and officials.

Elon Musk will get through this with Trump in the Oval Office protecting him, but this Democratic investigation should be viewed as a warning shot.
If Democrats win back the House majority next year, they are going to be heavily investigating Musk and his government contracts. Those investigations will involve very public hearings where Musk will be dragged in to testify.
Should Democrats win the presidency, Elon Musk should expect to lose his government contracts, and I don’t think criminal charges, depending on what a potential investigation uncovers, are out of the question.
With these letters, Democrats are setting the stage for a much bigger investigation in the future once they regain power.
What do you think about Democrats investigating Elon Musk? Let’s discuss it in the comments below.
I've written both of Virginia's Senators asking that they investigate Musk and his business interests especially after Musk dismantled the agencies looking into his business dealings. Connolly has nothing to lose and if Dems are smart enough to pass the baton to Crockett, she will be tenacious in getting the investigations up and flowing. If the agencies don't cooperate, NO Dem should put any effort into this big ugly bill that Slump wants
