The BBC has put Donald Trump completely on the defensive. Trump, the plaintiff who brought the lawsuit, as he is attempting to sue the broadcaster for $5-$10 billion for what he claims was a defamatory use of video of himself delivering his speech before the 1/6 attack in a documentary.

Trump claims the documentary caused his businesses to suffer extreme financial damage. The BBC responded by using the discovery process to request Trump’s financial documents. To avoid disclosing his business interests, Trump narrowed his lawsuit and changed his claim after he was ordered to turn over the documents.
Trump can no longer sue the BBC for large sums of money, but the discovery process in the case remains ongoing.
Lawyers for the BBC are asking the Florida court where the case is being heard to force the president’s children to accept subpoenas, because Donald Trump has been using the federal government to shield his kids and block the delivery of the subpoenas.
Never in the history of the presidency has a president used the power of the office to block civil lawsuit subpoenas, but that is exactly what Trump is doing.
