DOJ Straining to Defend Trump Policies After Mass Exodus
Nearly 2/3 of DOJ lawyers tasked with defending Trump administration policies have quit, leaving the unit stuck with defending Trump's policies strained.
Resistance comes from all walks of life, including federal employees and lawyers standing up for the Constitution.
To that end, there’s been a mass exodus from the Trump DOJ that has strained the department charged with defending Trump’s policies, according to a previously unreported tally by Reuters.
The federal programs branch lost nearly 2/3 of its staff since Trump’s election.
These are the folks stuck with defending Trump’s signature policies like the restricting the Constitutionally protected right of birthright citizenship and slashing funding to Harvard.
Sixty-nine of the roughly 110 lawyers have voluntarily left since Trump’s election or have announced plans to leave, according to a list compiled by former Justice Department lawyers and reviewed by Reuters.
“The tally has not been previously reported. Using court records and LinkedIn accounts, Reuters was able to verify the departure of all but four names on the list.”
