Democrats Turn The Tables On Todd Blanche And Use His Comey Standard To Call For Trump's Prosecution
After the Justice Department claimed that James Comey's seashell post was a threat against Trump, House Judiciary Democrats argued that the DOJ should use the same standard to prosecute Trump.
The latest indictment of James Comey is even more frivolous than the last. Comey posted on Instagram a picture of seashells spelling out 8647.

The indictment read in part:
On or about May 15, 2025, in the Eastern District of North Carolina, thedefendant, JAMES BRIEN COMEY JR , did knowingly and willfully make a threatto take the life of, and to inflict bodily harm upon, the President of the UnitedStates, in that he publicly posted a photograph on the internet social media siteInstagram which depicted seashells arranged in a pattern making out "86 47",which a reasonable recipient who is familiar with the circumstances would interpretas a serious expression of an intent to do harm to the President of the United States in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section (871)a.
Blanche held a press conference where he claimed, “There are multiple threats cases very similar to this one, including one where the defendant pled guilty recently to threatening former President Biden, another one that's scheduled to go to trial this summer. Another one indicted, an individual was divided, was indicted for threatening Tom Holman. I say that to say that while this case is unique and this indictment stands out because of the name of the defendant, his alleged conduct is the same kind of conduct that we will never tolerate and that we will always investigate and regularly prosecute.”
Comey was indicted for criticizing the government. He did not make a personal threat to harm Donald Trump, and if that is going to be the standard, House Judiciary Committee Democrats are arguing that standard should also apply to Trump.
