As two billionaire threats to democracy engage in a rich guy slap fight, Democrats in the House aren’t sitting on the sidelines and watching the show.
Two Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee Reps. Stephen Lynch (D-MA) and Robert Garcia (D-CA) have launched an investigation into Musk’s allegations.
Lynch and Garcia wrote ot AG Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel:
We write with profound alarm at allegations that files relating to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have not been declassified and released to the American public because they personally implicate President Trump. On June 5, 2025, Elon Musk, the former senior advisor to the President and head of the Department of Government Efficiency, a component of the Executive Office of the President, posted on the social media platform X: “@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.” We ask that you immediately clarify whether this allegation is true and respond to this letter with the requested information.
…
Elon Musk, one of the President’s closest and most influential advisors, alleges that the President may be described in additional files related to this investigation. This allegation implies that the President may be the President may be ivolved in determining which files should be released and whether files will be withheld from the public if he personally chooses to withhold them.
President Trump and his family were passengers on Jeffrey Epstein’s personal airplane, according to flight logs released by AG Bondi in February 2025. President Trump, by his own admission, was close friends with Jeffrey Epstein, and Epstein was previously a guest at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Any attempts to prevent the appropriate release of the Epstein files to shield the President from truth and accountability merits intense scrutiny by Congress and by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
On February 11, 2025, our Republican colleagues requested the declassification and release of documents in the possession of the DOJ related to the Epstein case. On May 8, 2025, Republican members of the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets expressed serious frustration with ongoing delays in releasing relevant documents. We agree with their conclusion that the release of these documents is long overdue. To assist in our investigation, we request the following information by June 20, 2025:
1. Provide a timeline for the Department’s declassification and public release of all remaining documents pertaining to the investigation and prosecutions of convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell;
2. Describe why DOJ has failed to release any additional Epstein documents between February 27, 2025 and present, in response to the requests from Republican members of the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets;
3. Describe the role of President Donald Trump in reviewing documents pertaining to the investigation and prosecutions of convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as his role in determining DOJ’s ability to declassify and make public said documents; and
4. Provide a list of all personnel whose approval is required to facilitate the declassification and public release of the documents pertaining to the aforementioned investigation and prosecutions.
5. Explain why the documents previously released to the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets contained significant redactions.
Democrats are demanding answers, and Musk has given them the opportunity to investigate
Trump’s connection to Epstein. Given Musk’s closeness to Trump for almost a year, it is appropriate that Democrats dig deeper to see if there is anything to what Musk is saying.
Either way, Democrats in the House aren’t passing up an opportunity to cause a headache for Donald Trump.
What do you think about House Oversight Democrats investigating Musk’s allegations about Trump and Epstein? Discuss it in the comments below.
I want Musk investigated for his theft of our personal data, and then I want the creep either jailed or deported. Not likely to happen, I know, but a girl can dream.
Yes! Go Dems, and don’t be cowed by Trump AG Pam Bondi who is a complete lackey, and always aggressively works to do his bidding. It will take nerve and unpleasant confrontation to get the Epstein files featuring DonaldTrump, so we need fearless and articulate congress people to lead the investigation.
