Democrats Introduce Bill To Protect Elections From ICE Interference
A newly introduced piece of legislation titled the Stop ICE Election Militarization Act would prevent ICE from operating near polling places, and ban ICE operations four weeks before an election.
Usually, a bill being proposed by members of the House minority would be interesting for the message that it is sending and what it potentially means could be a priority if the current minority takes back the majority.
However, the Department of Homeland Security, which houses ICE, is currently shut down, as Democrats are demanding reforms to rein in ICE.

As part of the joint Senate and House Democratic list of ICE reform demands Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries have demanded that ICE be banned from polling places.
Schumer said during a joint press conference with Jeffries earlier in February, “There are certain places they shouldn’t be able to go in, churches, synagogues, schools, election places. There should be no racial profiling as these bands of goons roam the streets.”
The Democratic leadership is correct. ICE should be banned from polling places, but that is just the start. More must be done to prevent ICE from interfering in elections.
Rep. John B. Larson (D-CT), Reps. Nikema Williams (D-GA) and Veronica Escobar (D-TX) have introduced the Stop ICE Election Militarization Act.
The act has two vital objectives that we will discuss below.
