Democrats Have Learned To Fight Back

One of the most interesting developments of the week has been the change in the approach of Democrats.

When House Republicans behaved badly at the State Of The Union, Democrats didn’t shake their heads, say tsk-tsk, and return to an intellectual discussion of the issues.

Instead, Democrats have been releasing ads like this:

The ad above is from the DNC, and it is an example of how the Democratic approach has evolved. Democrats have realized that it is not enough to condemn Republicans when they engage in disrespectful behavior. Trump’s entire 2016 campaign can be looked at as a magical mystery tour of racism, sexism, ableism, and grievance politics that got him into the White House. In 2016, Democrats thought that there was no way that voters would ever put someone like Trump into power.

As we will discuss below, they learned their lesson, and the result has been something that Republicans don’t know how to handle.
