Cory Booker Calls Out Republican Trump And Epstein Hypocrites
Sen. Cory Booker said that Republicans have abandoned their constitutional duties, and pointed to the fact that if the Epstein scandal involved a Democrat, Republicans would be howling for hearings.
The hypocrisy is blatant. Republicans in Congress are stone silent as Donald Trump’s birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein has been published.
The White House line is that the letter is fake, but in normal times, this would be a situation where Congress would step up and investigate.
However, as Sen. Cory Booker pointed out, Republicans are doing the opposite.

Sen. Booker said on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes:
We know this was an awful man who did horrific things, that there are real victims to his crimes. And so when you have leading figures in the trump administration, from the head of the FBI to our attorney general telling the public that there is there there that there are mountains of evidence to implicate people in serious, serious crimes, and then all of a sudden to turn on a dime and to say, there's nothing to see there. Something is seriously wrong again, to have our leading figures either be involved in a cover-up, or to be patently lying to the American people. Either of those scenarios is problematic and deserves investigation. And this is yet another example in the United States of America that is based upon a constitution of checks and balances, that we in Congress are not doing our job. The Republican controlled congress, instead of holding hearings, imagine if this was Barack Obama. Imagine if this was a president Hillary Clinton.
I mean, imagine that for a second that the demands for hearings, the hearings that they would have. And so what I have a problem with right now is very powerful people. The President Of The United States is more and more having the Republican Party in Congress under his thrall. They have surrendered their constitutional obligations, undermining the very idea of checks and balances and congressional oversight, and surrendering power to a man who clearly wants to be more like an authoritarian leader than a president.
Republicans have given up on even trying to be a co-equal branch of government. They have gifted their power over to Donald Trump, and the only sure way for America to protect its democracy is to return Democrats to power in 2026.

Mr. Booker spoke the simple, obvious reality, and while it needed to said out loud, the maga folks and dt are in such a panic and there is so much chaos swirling, it will barely be heard, so thank you for lifting it up. Also Wall Street Journal deserves. a shout out for publishing this letter, a rare and unexpected act from them, which reflects the importance of the context in which the letter exists. It also suggests more questions - there are other letters, who are they from; how did WSJ get this, and how did they arrive at decision to publish it when dt asked them not to do so, and . . .how did this emerge and from what and who has access to this source and why now?
Sen. Booker is correct. No one could argue.
