“Country First” was the slogan of Senator John McCain, during his run for president in the 2008 race against then-Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden. He stood by that slogan  -- even, and most especially when he lost. He upheld with honor the peaceful transfer of power.

This is the man whose memorial Joe Biden saluted today, and that gesture is packed with more patriotism than we are likely to see from the Republican Party today.
