CNN Disgraced Itself And Harmed America With Trump Town Hall

Trump boasted that CNN made him an offer that he couldn't refuse. Apparently, that offer was to give him a virtually unfettered platform to harm America.

Trump’s CNN Town Hall Was Trouble From The Beginning

The trouble started almost immediately. Donald Trump took the stage at roughly 8:02 PM ET, and by 8:03 PM ET, he was spreading lies and false information about the 2020 election. CNN’s Kaitlin Collins acted more as a passive fact-checker who corrected Trump in the most inoffensive and non-confrontational way possible.

The tone was set.

There would be no accountability, no pressing, and not a lot of pushback.

It would be easy to blame Kaitlin Collins who has worked in conservative media, but the tone for town hall seems to have been dictated from the top by CNN boss Chris Licht, who has been actively courting Republicans and trying to get them on the network since he took over for Jeff Zucker.

Later, Trump tried to falsely blame the 1/6 attack on Nancy Pelosi.

After more than 60 minutes of lies, distortions, and straight-up fantasy, Trump closed by refusing to say that he would support the result of the 2024 election no matter what:

We could recap every single lie and false statement of Trump’s over the entire hour, but the fact that Trump lied is about as surprising as the sun rising.

The problem is that CNN gave Trump this platform to lie, and they harmed America, as we will discuss below.
