Chaos In The White House As Secretary Of Navy Leaves In Middle Of Iran War

The administration announced that Secretary of the Navy John C. Phelan is immediately leaving, which is a problem because Trump is in the middle of a war with Iran and blocking the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump has given multiple reasons for the war in Iran, but Iran has responded to the US attacks by making the war about shipping. The central focus of the Iran war by both sides has become the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has cut off shipping in the Strait, and no matter how many times the Trump administration claims that the Strait is open, or imposes a blockade to try to make Iran’s economic warfare hurt, the global economic shock continues to grow.

The New York Times summed up the situation after Iran seized ships trying to move through the Strait, “The latest attacks show that Tehran still has a stranglehold on the strait that allows it to ratchet up the pain on the global economy, even though the U.S. military has struck some 13,000 targets in Iran and set up a naval blockade against it. This strategic move gives Iran leverage in any talks with the United States to end the war.”

The White House claims that Iran is fractured, and they need the leadership to get it together in order to hold negotiations. Iran seems to have it together enough to control the Strait of Hormuz.

What is even more disturbing is that the Secretary of the Navy left the Trump administration in the middle of a war.
