“Trump is now telling MAGA that we should agree to give up our rights for the greater good.
He wants us to agree to allow the federal government to spy on us via FISA.
Anyone still supporting this man is a fraud. He has done a full 180 on MAGA and is a Warhawk neocon,” the conservative firebrand who is banned from entering Australia wrote on X.
Yes, Trump is framing himself as wanting the ability to spy on Americans because he, who claimed bone spurs exempted him from the Vietnam War draft, is “willing to risk the giving up of my Rights and Privileges as a Citizen for our Great Military and Country!"
In reality, no one is coming for Trump because he is running all of the law enforcement agencies in this country as his own private revenge firm. He might as well be comparing himself Jesus. Oh, wait, he already did that.
This difference of opinion about Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) surveillance provisions is causing yet another fracture point in MAGA.
In 2023 (so, under the Biden administration and thus the critique can’t be qualified as Trump Derangement Syndrome), the ACLU criticized Section 702 of FISA, arguing the government engages “in mass, warrantless surveillance of Americans’ and foreigners’ phone calls, text messages, emails, and other electronic communications. Information collected under the law without a warrant can be used to prosecute and imprison people, even for crimes that have nothing to do with national security.”
The Brennan Center argued in 2026 that Congress “should close the backdoor search loophole by requiring the government to obtain a warrant before searching Section 702 data for Americans’ communications” because:
Section 702 authorizes warrantless surveillance and therefore may only be targeted at foreigners abroad. Nevertheless. the surveillance inevitably sweeps in Americans’ communications. Despite Congress’s mandate to “minimize” the retention and use of such communications, the FBI, NSA, CIA, and NCTC routinely search Section 702-acquired data for Americans’ phone calls, emails, and text messages.
All of this is bad enough under a sane administration, but we currently have a tyrant in the White House who is mentally unstable and childishly vindictive the point of becoming an internationally despised joke. All of the claims of his supposed deal prowess have melted into an international “TACO” (Trump Always Chickens Out) sneer.
Donald Trump already irrevocably and with the gravest lack of care and basic responsibility gave Elon Musk and his minions the keys to our private data, allowing him to plunder government data that is supposed to be sacred and private.
Trump has been going after voter rolls in various states, which is also a highly unacceptable breach of our private information.
Candace is wrong that Trump has done a 180; it’s only just become apparent to her now that he doesn’t stand for America First. Newsflash: He never did.
