As Donald Trump rapidly dismantles the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), leaving workers in unsafe situations around the world, it’s been revealed that his daughter Ivanka Trump used USAID funds for recording equipment for a White House event in 2019.
“Ivanka Trump used money from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for recording equipment for a White House event, USAID documents show,” Newsweek reported Thursday.
According to USAID documents, Ivanka Trump used over $11,000 from the department in 2019 to buy video recording and reproducing equipment for a White House event.
The documents show $11,539 was to used by Trump in November 2019 to purchase software, CDs, tapes and records.
The purchase was approved by Jenifer Healy, who was serving as USAID deputy chief of staff at the time, and the Administrator's Office. It is not clear which White House event the equipment was used for.
USAID money is largely not spent on DEI, but rather on programs like UNICEF and Save the Children.
Should Democrats be asking: ‘Why do Republicans hate children?’
Reports suggest that unelected Elon Musk’s DOGE led action to lock USAID workers “out of their building and government accounts, including emails and payroll.”
Elon Musk does not have legal authority to do anything with government programs.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that USAID serves as the U.S. calling card that we are the example, that we are the “exceptional” country we claim we are. USAID gives assistance to countries recovering from disaster and helps those engaging in democratic reform. It bolsters democracy.
You can see why Trump hates it.
TRUMP’S WASTEFUL VENDETTA SPENDING
Right now, there are USAID workers around the world who are “emotionally distraught” and do not even know how they are going to get home due to Trump’s sudden dismantling of USAID. Now, in case you’re thinking well, “they” are trying to save money, this is going to cost the American taxpayer tens of millions of dollars, according to CNN.
CNN spoke with numerous USAID employees around the world who expressed shock as they brace for large swaths of the workforce to be put on leave on Friday night. Hundreds posted abroad have had their lives upended and are waiting for answers on when and how they will return to the US – a massive undertaking expected to cost US taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.
“We are all emotionally distraught,” one USAID diplomat posted overseas told CNN. “We feel like psychological warfare is being waged against us.”
A USAID diplomat said they feel like “psychological warfare is being waged against us.”
That’s because it is. It’s being waged against every American right now, and many of our allies.
This blatant hypocrisy in which grift is fine when the Trumps do it, but everyone else needs to lose Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security so billionaires can get another tax cut is important because it is the theme of this administration: They claim they’re trying to get rid of “fraud, waste, and abuse,” but historically they’ve posed a systemic threat to the taxpayer in terms of fraud, waste and abuse.
TRUMP IS FRAUD WASTE AND ABUSE
