Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has a message for those like Donald Trump who are listening to Netanyahu about Iran being on the verge of a nuclear weapon.
Sen. Sanders said:
In 2002, in testimony to Congress urging the United States to go to war in Iraq, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated: “There is no question whatsoever that Saddam is seeking… nuclear weapons…. If you take out Saddam’s regime, I guarantee you that it will have enormous positive reverberations.”
Netanyahu was wrong. Very wrong. The war in Iraq resulted in 4,492 U.S. military deaths, over 32,000 wounded, and a cost of roughly three trillion dollars. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis also died as a result of that tragic war.
Netanyahu was wrong regarding the war in Iraq. He is wrong now. We must not get involved in Netanyahu’s war against Iran.
There doesn’t seem to be any desire from the American people to get involved in another war in the Middle East.
No matter how Trump and some of his pro-war allies may describe it, a US strike on Iran would consist of much more than the dropping of one big bomb and then coming home.
There would be retaliation from the Iranians. The situation would spiral out of control. A conflict with Iran would make the Iraq war look like a Girl Scout cookie sale.
Even without US troops involved, an Iranian conflict would involve escalation and entanglement. It would almost certainly involve terrorist attacks against the United States, either at home or abroad.
The best way for the US to handle the Israel-Iran war is to stay out of it. Trump has claimed for nearly a decade that he is an anti-war isolationist. He has a chance to prove it by not getting played by Netanyahu.
The United States has everything to lose and nothing to gain by joining Netanyahu in his war.
The problem with sending a term-limited convicted felon back to the White House is that Donald Trump feels like he doesn’t have to be accountable to anyone. There must be a feeling of invincibility. Trump thinks that he can do whatever he wants, but the American people need to show him that his presidency will end next November if he goes to war with Iran.
Netanyahu was wrong 23 years ago, and he is still wrong today.

Thank you, a million thanks!
100% agree. Netanyahu is Israel’s version of Trump. As if the Gaza war wasn’t enough, he had to start a war with Iran which makes no sense. All he has to do is flatter Trump and the idiot will do anything Netanyahu tells him to do.
