Bernie Sanders Is Spending Memorial Day In Maine To Help Defeat Susan Collins
It isn't a coincidence that Sen. Bernie Sanders is bringing his Fighting Oligarchy tour to Maine, and its hotly contested Senate race, over Memorial Day weekend.
Maine has long been a temptation for Senate Democrats, specifically the seat of Sen. Susan Collins. The long-time self-styled moderate who somehow manages to consistently vote with Trump has been a dream target of Democrats almost since she was first elected nearly 30 years ago.

Democrats watch Maine continue to vote blue in presidential elections, but continually re-elect Collins, who has a brand in the state that the left has not been able to crack, but 2026 might finally be different.
With control of the Senate in their grasp, Democrats and progressives are coming together in a bid to send Collins into retirement.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has previously endorsed progressive Graham Platner who will be the Democratic Senate nominee.
Sanders will also be bringing his Fighting Oligarchy tour back to Maine over Memorial Day:
As part of his Fighting Oligarchy tour, Sen. Bernie Sanders is heading to Portland and Orono over Memorial Day from May 24 to 25, where he will hold two rallies with ME U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner and ME Governor candidate Troy Jackson.
Sanders is endorsing and recruiting progressive candidates to run for office at all levels of government, and training organizers across the country. He has endorsed two dozen candidates at various levels of government and recruited more than 8,500 to run for office.
Sanders was already planning these events before Gov. Janet Mills dropped out of the Maine Democratic Senate primary which occurs on June 9, but can Democrats and progressives defeat Collins?
