As Trump Attacks America Your Job is to Fill the Space
The Republican shutdown is yet another step in their nihilistic attack on the U.S., which is part of their war on liberalism and western democracy. You have an assignment during it: Fill the space.
People cannot wait for Republican attacks in the empty space of the Trump shutdown.
The Trump shutdown is part of their war against liberalism and western democracy. They don’t mind the government being shut down, this is why they do it every chance they get rather than doing their job of balancing the budget through negotiation.
Republicans have come to expect Democrats to save them from their nihilistic attacks on the United States government. But this time might be different. Already, elected Democrats are showing a spine at least demand to be a part of the negotiation process even as Trump calls all Democrats vermin, “communists, Marxists, fascists and the radical left thugs,” and then days ago called Democrats the “party of hate, evil, and Satan.”

Trump has told Republicans not to speak to Democrats. And so they are not.
The Republican Party now actively hates people who do not parrot their party line, which is not just Democrats, but also Independents and even some of their own supporters who are becoming disenchanted over broken promises, high prices, and now loss of healthcare.
Even as Republicans were at a posh resort raising money for themselves while the government is shut down, they are filling the airwaves and government websites and emails with propaganda aimed at blaming the people who are not in power right now, while also inciting violence with disgustingly irresponsible hate speech reminiscent of the way Hitler spoke about his victims.
The goal is to signal contempt for all Democrats and then all people who might not agree with every single thing they are doing. This is why Trump went after Jimmy Kimmel. It’s all about silencing dissent.
And so this is the moment that people must fill up the space with dissent. Not with reaction to the lies; but rather on offense. People must fill up the space with demands that The People get the same health insurance access as their representatives, whose health insurance is not seen as a good place to make “cuts.” People shouldn’t even have to beg lawmakers to renew extended subsidies and roll back their cuts to Medicaid, because we should have what every other industrialized, supposedly free country has: Universal healthcare.
The United States being the only developed country that doesn’t provide universal healthcare to all its residents. Now is the time to demand it.
Do not just ask for what was taken away; make it cost something to have taken it away. Use it as an opportunity to demand more. Think of it as they do, as “war,” and it becomes clear that being reasonable and trying to find good solutions to their negging is pointless. The goal post will keep moving.
So today it’s Medicaid and the ACA, and tomorrow it will be Medicare. They are always flipping out over even the most common sense gun reform due to what they see as a “slippery slope” and I’d like to raise your awareness that this is both a confession and projection on their part.
There is a slippery slope, and we are on it. Right out of any social safety net.
People must make their voices heard to the extent that the media has to acknowledge it if they want to pretend they are unbiased (as in, not totally in the tank for big corporations and the party that deregulates them).
You can do this by the usual methods of letters to the editor, phone calls to Congress, protests, and speaking to everyone in your circles about the harm that is soon to come when the new prices roll out on November 1st and the people barely affording groceries get hit with an increase for health insurance that could be as high as $17,310 (240%), from $7,225 to $24,535 annually.
Republicans routinely fill the space with their talking points on TV, podcasts, YouTube, mainstream and legacy establishment media, but also in the streets with stickers at gas pumps and flyers on cars. They are relentless, even when they are lying. - or maybe even more so when they are lying.
They keep telling us they are at war against anyone who doesn’t worship Trump. It’s time to believe them and behave accordingly. Fill up the space. Demand to be heard. Organize in your communities.
This is the assignment for the resistance, and it is hardly as burdensome as other generations have had it — although if we don’t get this right, we may soon face those challenges here.
They are trying to control the narrative, to spin and justifying and excuse their killing of an estimated 50,000 plus Americans every year. Don’t let them get away with it.

Bitch to your reps in DC. Let them know we will remember at the next chance to vote these ass-kissers out! VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO!
Thank you, Sarah. Great post! I live in a red voting district in Southern California and bombard my (useless) 4-term Republican congressman with emails several times a week. As an independent voter (no party preference), I kid myself he pays a little more attention to my opinions. I also request a written response, so his staff are forced to log my comments and email a (canned) reply. Of course it’s all shouting into the void but at least he knows I am out here and paying attention. With luck, he’ll finally be ousted next November. We already have several promising Dem challengers lined up. 🤞🏼
