AOC Rips The Mask Off Trump's Fake Fascism And Tells Americans How To Fight Back
At a virtual town hall, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) explained that Trump's projections of strength aren't real and how the American people can fight back.
It is important in our current time in the United States that political leaders do more than talk about democracy. Looking back, if there was one mistake that Democrats made over the last few years, it was assuming that all of the American people understood what democracy is and had a common agreement on the definition of democracy.

Democracy can have different meanings to different individuals, so only stating that democracy is at stake or democracy is in crisis may resonate at different levels of effectiveness with each person.
Trump’s Fascism Fraud
At a recent virtual town hall, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went beyond the basic talk about democracy when asked by a constituent what regular people could do to fight Trump’s fascism.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) answered:
It is very important to understand that authoritarians rely on the perception of power, not on the reality that they have power. They need people to believe that they are more powerful than they actually are. And uh, and that is why it is very important for us to. Even just mentally recognize that Donald Trump is less popular than he has ever been.
He is underwater on virtually every issue. If you oppose and are disgusted by what this administration is doing, you are in the company of a majority of Americans. You are not alone. More people disapprove and are opposed to this administration right now than they are in support of this administration.
Those are the numbers. In order to mask that reality, Donald Trump is trying to take control of the media using a kind of extortion-style tactics. We all saw what happened with Jimmy Kimmel. We all saw earlier this year what CBS did with Stephen Colbert. These are not just small or flippant things.
These are exercises in power.
And when I say what we can do as individuals, uh, I want, uh, the reason I highlight this is because it is an excellent case study in how powerful our individual actions are. CBS announced that they were ending the Stephen Colbert show after some, I don’t, I’m trying to even recall what, what Colbert had said critical of the Trump administration.
But nevertheless, they, they announced out of nowhere. The ending of his show. and the Trump administration, as we have seen, has threatened the FCC licenses of people who air their political critics. Now, as we said, what the Trump administration says it’s going to do versus what it is actually capable of are two different things.
They rely on everyone complying in advance out of fear. We cannot be scared of this administration. The risks are very real. We must look after one another. The impacts are, are devastating, but in moments where they want us to comply in advance and we have the ability and the choice not to, we should exercise that.
The trick that Trump is trying to pull is pretending to have power that he doesn’t actually have.
As AOC said, there is a disconnect between what Trump threatens to do and what his administration can do.
Trump is hoping that corporations, institutions, and the American people comply with the threats and don’t challenge his lack of power.
Below, we will discuss proven ways to fight back and win, and watch AOC’s comments.
