America Must Reject Trump's Racist Attacks Against Somalians

Trump's racist attack against Somalians in the United States started after the president got two members of the National Guard shot. America needs to see this racism for what it is and reject it.

Donald Trump has consistently used racism to divide the country. Trump is operating a tyranny of the minority. MAGA has never been a majority of the country, so the only way that Donald Trump has been able to maintain his political power has been to constantly divide the nation.

One of the country’s deep fault lines has been the issue of race.

It used to be considered disgraceful for a modern president to attempt to use race to divide the nation.

Some previous Republicans have used racist dog whistles, but none of them ever used racism as overtly and bluntly in the modern era as Donald Trump.

Trump always needs to find a villain, and the villain in Trump’s stories usually turns out to be a group of people who have been marginalized and discriminated against.

During the 2024 campaign, immigrants were the villains according to Trump. During the first year of his second presidency, Trump has targeted non-white immigrants.

It is not surprising that after Trump’s decisions led to two National Guard members being shot, Trump would return to racism in an effort to once again divide and distract.

Trump delivered the following racist rant in the White House on Wednesday.

Trump responded to the mayor of Minneapolis expressing pride at having the nation’s largest Somali population by saying:

I wouldn’t be proud to have the largest Somalian-- look at their nation. Look how bad their nation is. It’s not even a nation. It’s just people walking around killing each other. Look, these Somalians have taken billions of dollars out of our country. Billions and billions.

They have a representative, Ilhan Omar, who they say married her brother. It’s a fraud. She tries to deny it now but you can’t really deny it because it just happened. She shouldn’t be allowed to be a congresswoman and I’m sure people are looking at that. And she should be thrown the hell out of our country.

They have destroyed Minnesota.
