Right now, including House races with a lean, the map stands at 217 for Republicans and 212 for Democrats, with 6 elections that are toss-ups.

Democrats are leading the majority of those toss-up elections. Control of the House may come down to one of those six elections.

To say that this has never happened in modern American history would be an understatement. The conventional wisdom about a first-term president losing the House in his first midterm election was wrong. The conventional wisdom about inflation motivating voters to vote Republican was wrong. The idea that a president’s approval rating can provide any sort of insight into how a midterm election is going to go was absurdly wrong.

Democrats are still in the running to win the House because they delivered for the American people. Under Speaker Pelosi the Democrats got things done that improved people’s lives.

Voters aren’t stupid.

They didn’t blame Democrats for inflation. Voters understood that there is no such thing as Biden inflation.
