There have been stories ever since the second Trump administration took office about violations of federal record-keeping laws and a consistent desire to operate in secret.

In April 2026, the Trump Department of Justice issued a memo that declared the Presidential Records Act unconstitutional. The Presidential Records Act requires that all correspondence and records in an administration be preserved for historical purposes.

The DOJ’s memo was remarkable because the Presidential Records Act is a law, and the Department of Justice does not have the power to invalidate laws.

A group of historians sued the DOJ, and a judge ruled in May 2026, according to The New York Times:

A federal judge ordered the White House on Wednesday to preserve all presidential records including text messages exchanged among its top officials, telling the Trump administration that at least for now it must follow a law it had unilaterally declared unconstitutional.

…

“While the presidency is a singularly important institution, that gravity does not free it from modest constraint,” wrote Judge Bates, an appointee of President George W. Bush, adding, “Congress has validly determined that this act helps to maintain that trust by shining some light on the activities of the president and his aides.”

It is one thing for a president who has been convicted of nearly three dozen felonies to not want to leave a paper trail. It is a whole different matter when the Department of the Interior looks like they are trying to cover something up.

The $20 million body cams the taxpayers bought for ICE that they refused to implement will finally be implemented, but the footage will only be released when it’s beneficial to ICE agents.

Even though taxpayers gave Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) $20 million for body cameras and former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took a break from shooting expensive, taxpayer-funded self-promotion films on horseback in order to promise to purchase the body cams and actually use them in the field, nearly half a year later Houston agents still weren’t wearing them when they fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in July of this year.

Now, DHS has announced that they will wear the cameras, but only release the footage when it’s in their “best interests.”

“Immigration and Customs Enforcement is moving to equip officers with body cameras in the next two months but the agency’s policy gives it broad control over what footage will be made public by specifying any releases must be in its “best interests,” the AP reported this morning. They noted this “could mean taxpayers who are pitching in tens of millions of dollars to pay for the cameras may be kept in the dark about some high-profile confrontations, at least in their immediate aftermath.”

This “gives its director discretion to release recordings that reflect well on the agency’s image while working to keep others secret, experts on body camera policies said.”

Yes, any releases of body cam footage by the agency that has repeatedly escalated violence even against US citizens without cause and then caused their death must tell the story that the agency is telling in order to be released.

Given this, we can bet the footage will be sliced and diced to tell the misleading stories they have been busted for telling in court rooms around the country.

Trump’s ICE Thugs Rely on Secrecy, Lies and Corruption

Trump’s ICE has displayed mind-blowing corruption, lying about their authority, abusing their authority, escalating violence, and lying in court.

It isn’t that this policy is so weird, it’s that they are announcing it. The AP noted that “selective releases are routine in some law enforcement agencies”, but they aren’t articulated this clearly in policy.

To get an idea of how this policy will be abused, we need only look at ICE’s abuse of use-of-force protocols and the lack of body camera utilization in recent high-profile shootings, including ICE’s fatal shooting of US citizen Renee Good.

Kristi Noem, who foreshadowed her leadership style of deadly incompetence by using her own incompetence at training her own dog as justification for shooting the young pet, claimed ICE had to shoot 37-year-old mother of three Renee Good because she was engaging in an act of “terrorism”.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey told reporters, “ So they are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video of myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is bulls*it. This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying.”

They lied so much about the shooting of Renee Good that the FBI killed the investigation.

They also shot and killed US citizen Alex Pretti and misled the public about their reasons for doing so. They blamed Pretti carrying a gun for why they shot him, but Pretti had a permit for his gun, he was legally observing ICE’s actions, and verified video showed Pretti holding a phone in his hand, not a gun, as he tried to help other protesters who had been pushed to the ground by agents.

Because Trump’s ICE refuse to identify themselves as police in a democracy must do, the FBI had to warn that criminals are posing as ICE agents to commit sexual assault, robbery, and kidnappings.

ICE’s fatal July 7, 2026 shooting in Houston, Texas brought both the victim’s family and LULAC to demand independent investigations after they fatally shot 52 year-old Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo while he was on his way to work.

They have to demand independent investigations because ICE lies so much. This time, it appears they lied about Araujo ramming them with his vehicle. They used this lie to justify their shooting of him.

The words that were spoken by Donald Trump during his speech on 1/6 before a mob of his supporters attacked the Capitol are not in dispute. Trump’s lawyers admit that their client said those exact words. Trump doesn’t claim that the video was edited or manipulated.

Trump claims that he was defamed by the BBC because the broadcaster used his own words to create a false impression of the message that Trump was sending.

The president’s defamation lawsuit against the BBC has been rough sailing. Trump was able to buy some time on turning over his financial records as the judge ruled that the president could render the need for the financial records irrelevant if he narrowed his defamation claim, which is good news for the BBC, as if Trump takes this off-ramp to keep his financial records hidden, he will have to claim less injury in his lawsuit, which could be an example of the BBC beating Trump by incrementially wearing the lawsuit down to nothing.

A fascinating ruling came on Thursday, when Trump tried to argue that the BBC wasn’t entitled to discovery about his mindset on 1/6 and what message he was trying to send with his speech.

But in reality, Iran has “asserted dominance” over the Strait of Hormuz, reaching a preliminary agreement with Oman while excluding the US altogether, even as Donald Trump claims they are begging him to talk.

“Asserting dominance over the Strait of Hormuz, Iran said it had agreed on a plan to jointly manage the strategic waterway together Lilian after fresh negotiations between the two countries. A round of talks which excluded a notable participant, the United States,” France 24 reported.

Iran, referring disdainfully to the US as “certain third parties” that might obstruct the process, said the compromise is contingent on the U.S. lifting its naval blockade.

If this is accurate, it reads like a demand on the US in order to open the Strait, rather than a “deal.”

After all, the Strait of Hormuz operated as an open international waterway prior to Trump and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s lethally self-indulgent war.

“According to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, established in 1982, no country has the right to claim international waters and all ships have the right of unimpeded passage,” the AP reported in July.

Trump Claims They’re Begging for Talks

Trump asserted to reporters that Iran begged him to talk, using his “tell” for when he’s engaging in exaggeration or outright fabrication of a discussion with another person, in which they are always pleading for something, saying “Please!” and often “Sir!”

“A lot of progress has been made. And they called me, and they said, ‘Please! Let’s talk. They want to talk. The funny thing is they never mention that. They always say ‘We’re not talking.’ But they called.”

Iran might have “called,” but if they did, it could have been to assert their demand that the US needs to lift its naval blockade.

Trump claimed that his businesses have been financially damaged. The BBC asked for his personal financial records, which are being held in a trust while he is president. The judge ruled that Trump must turn over the financial records.

The president’s lawyers responded by filing an emergency request for a stay, as they claimed that the BBC’s subpoena was overly broad and the British broadcaster was trying to use discovery for its own financial gain.

The false claims of an emergency have become standard procedure for Trump as president. Trump tried to claim that immigration was a national emergency. Trump once tried to claim that his border wall was a national emergency.

Anytime Trump is not getting what he wants, or might be forced to do something that he doesn’t want to do, it becomes an emergency.

Trump filed a defamation suit that alleges that he suffered billions of dollars in damages. However, Trump left the door wide open by claiming that his businesses suffered financial damage.

The lawsuit has entered the discovery process, and so far the BBC has requested Trump’s personal phone records. The BBC also wants Trump’s personal text messages, and Trump, his family, and his trust’s business records.

Trump’s claim is that he had nothing to do with the 1/6 attack, and that anyone who claims otherwise is engaged in defamation.

A judge agreed with the BBC and ordered Trump to turn over his personal business records, which are being held in a trust administered by his son, Donald Trump Jr.

Trump is panicking, and with the deadline approaching, Trump’s lawyers filed a motion to block the BBC from getting the president’s financial records.

If you have been paying attention this week, you may have noticed that Democrats are introducing a lot of legislation related to Trump and corruption.

On Monday, Democrats introduced legislation that would come after Trump for abuse of presidential pardon power and the selling of pardons, which are reportedly going for $2 million each.

On Tuesday, Democrats unveiled legislation that was more directly aimed at Trump and allowing people to get some of the money back that Trump is taking under corrupt pretenses.

Republicans and the current administration seem to view corruption as not a crime, and those who may view it as a crime see it as a victimless crime that doesn’t harm anyone.

This point of view is the opposite of the truth.

Corruption by any public official takes public funds that could be used for the common good and places them in someone’s pocket. Republicans say that there are no funds for hungry children or health insurance subsidies, but Trump has public funds to hand out to his family and allies through no-bid government contracts. That is the policy cost of corruption.

Corruption also undermines trust and faith in government.

Trump is engaging in a third kind of corruption: using his office to make money for himself and his family through schemes like memecoins and his latest, selling access to his Truth Social posts early for insider trading.

This latest scheme has caught the attention of Sen. Alex Padilla, who has a bill to hit Trump right in the wallet.

Donald Trump has been in decline, according to those who served in his first administration, since about 2018. Basically, Trump started to fall apart shortly after he was elected president the first time.

Critics have alleged that Donald Trump has been in the bribe-taking business since he returned to the White House. While Democrats are in the House and Senate Minority at least until January 2027, when the next Congress is sworn in, Democratic members have been introducing legislation to lay out their priorities and highlight what elements of corruption they are likely to focus on in 2027 if Democrats take back power.

Reality smacked Trump upside the head on Friday when the US Attorney for Washington, D.C. withdrew the criminal charges against former Olympian David Hearn because there was no evidence of vandalism.

The filing spelled out that the Reflecting Pool job was botched:

It was not until after these documents were produced that USAO-DC first became aware of information showing that the damage was the result of a botched installation and not vandalism as initially represented by DOI. Indeed, USAO-DC could only rely on the information provided by DOI that the damage was entirely caused by vandals, including the defendant in this case, David Hearn.

Trump wants to hear none of this and is attacking his own administration.

Trump has claimed for months that vandals destroyed the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, but it turns out there were no vandals with box cutters removing 350 feet of the pool’s liner.

The White House cover story was all a lie to cover up the fact that the contractor that Trump awarded a no-bid contract to do the job botched the whole thing.

Trump gave the job to one of his supporters, who also happens to be a convicted felon, but the US Attorney for Washington, D.C. filed a motion in court to withdraw the criminal charges against David Hearn and revealed the real reason why the Reflecting Pool was damaged.

According to the filing requesting the dismissal of the charges:

Upon the initial reports provided by the Department of the Interior (“DOI”) and the U.S. Park Police (“USPP”), the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia(“USAO-DC’) presented the grand jury with evidence that damage to the Reflecting Pool wascaused by vandals, including the defendant in this case, David Hearn, However, it was not untilafter the return of the indictment, that the DOI provided additional documents to the USAO-DC indicating that damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in June 2026 was the result offlawed installation by the contractor, Atlantic Industrial Coatings (“AIC”), and the rush tocomplete the project prior to events associated with the America 250 celebration in the weeks surrounding Independence Day 2026.

A lot of people are outraged by his political resentment and anger, but they’re missing the entire point. His anger is the only appropriate reaction to what Trump is doing to this country and to the world.

He also brought up the Epstein files recently on a different podcast. You know, the files this president used our tax dollars to pay FBI agents to redact his name and still hasn’t released them fully, in violation of the law.

“Get loud and stop bowing down to people that have power. You got power too, man.”

What else would we expect from a convicted felon rapist but to continue raping the world the way he raped the Kennedy Center? He does whatever he wants and the media expresses outrage insofar as it’s helpful for ratings at the moment, but there are no really tough questions being asked of this man or of anyone in the party that supports. him. Instead, we are treated to the gaslighting of “politics as usual.”

Even after he started an unnecessary, stupid war and gas prices are surging along with grocery prices and healthcare costs, even as neighbors are kidnapped off the streets and people exercising their First Amendment rights are thrown in jail or shot and killed by supposed law enforcement. They still treat him and his enabler party as just clever politics.

This is not normal. This is not okay. This is sick. This is infuriating. This is disturbing. This is hard to hold.

But underneath Trump’s endless power grabs, there are signs that his power is slipping

.“When you talk about Trump’s power slipping on Capitol Hill, you’re right to point out the ways that he’s not getting what he wants simply because he says he wants it,” MS NOW Senior Capitol Hill Reporter Ali Vitali said Thursday morning, pointing to the canceled vote on Todd Blanche’s confirmation, the Save America Act, and the timing of the budget resolution.

“But we’ve yet to see this body actually stick it to him,” Vitali continued. “And so this is actually one of the first tests of if they are willing to do that, or if they are just trying to exact a pound of policy or legislative flesh before ultimately getting in line.”

Trump, again displaying his THUG POWER OVER approach to “deal making”, accused Cornyn of tanking the confirmation because Trump primaried him, “Maybe John Cornyn's upset with me because I didn't endorse him.”

Cornyn defended himself from Trump attacks after he stalled the confirmation of Trump’s personal criminal defense attorney Todd Blanche, pointing out that he voted with Trump “99.3% of the time.”

“This is about making sure that even if you’re the president of the United States, you don’t get favorable terms from the government in a settlement of a lawsuit that ordinary citizens would not get, like protection from audits by the IRS into the into the foreseeable future,” Cornyn told Vitali.

That isn’t the biggest surprise given that Trump is the least popular president in the history of polling, but what isn’t being discussed is that Trump isn’t just losing with the voters you might be expecting him to lose with (Independents, young voters, Latinos); he is also losing his base.

A new filing by Comey to dismiss the Trumped-up charges against him by the president for the May 2025 Instagram post in which he referenced a popular restaurant term by writing with seashells, “86 47” reveals pathetic details about the “vindictive and selective prosecution”, alleging federal officials misled judges, submitted false statements and withheld key facts.

In their motion to dismiss, Comey’s legal team included details about the investigation to build Trump’s ginned up “case”, including troubling accusations of “unlawful surveillance” of Comey by the Secret Service.

The document alleges a senior DOJ official requested the warrant-free location tracking of Comey shortly after his post went up, tracking Comey as he drove from North Carolina to Virginia, “including as they stopped to visit the grave of their deceased son.”

The Trump government spied on a Trump enemy as he visited the grave of his deceased son.

LEGALLY A BAD IDEA

The Trump government used a process that is supposed to be for “imminent threat to life or limb” emergencies, according to a Secret Service official quoted in Comey’s filings, who noted he told them it was “legally a bad idea” since they did not believe anyone’s life was in immediate danger.

The filings allege that the Secret Service was closely coordinating with the Justice Department and with Trump, who received frequent updates on Air Force One.

The Department of Justice is supposed to be entirely independent from the President, but under this President it has placed on the building a nearly $1 million Trump branding effort including a banner of Donald Trump. They are not making a secret of the fact that this DOJ is not independent.

RELYING ON A RUDY GIULIANI PODCAST

The Trump government is trying to argue that “86 47” was a call to violence, but they were unable to substantiate this argument in their investigation. They went so far as to investigate Comey’s former cases involving the mob, and even talked with a key government cooperator in a case early in Comey’s career, but that person did not recall ever discussing the term “86” with Comey. They found nothing.

Vote-by-mail is fine with Donald Trump as long as he is the one voting. That is the message that the president has been sending to the American people for years. Trump regularly votes by mail, including in the Florida Republican primary in 2026.

Donald Trump is getting desperate. His approval ratings are somehow getting worse. The latest Trump approval ratings tracker from The Economist has the president at 35% approval and 60% disapproval.

Trump is so unpopular that he has got nearly two-thirds of the country against him. Given this context, it makes sense that he is trying to do everything in his power to rig the midterm election.

This is a president who is going down in flames, and Democrats are throwing more wood on the fire.

Because Texas Republicans have spent decades suppressing the vote and making conditions difficult for any Democrat to win statewide, I have been skeptical of James Talarico’s chances of pulling off an upset in the Texas US Senate race. There is a reason why a Democrat has not won a statewide office in Texas since 1994.

It is not because there haven’t been any good Democrats, or that Texas is that conservative. There is also a structural dynamic that involves Republicans in Texas building an election system that favors their voters.

For a Democrat to break through and win statewide, they need more than just all Democrats, Independents, and Latino voters.

Donald Trump did this to himself. When Trump made the choice to sue the BBC for defamation, he thought that the lawsuit would never go to court. Whether it is war or defamation lawsuits, Trump’s mentality is that everything is the same.

The military’s action in Venezuela lasted one day, so a war with Iran should end just as quickly. ABC and CBS paid Trump millions through out-of-court settlements, so the BBC will do the same. That is Donald Trump’s thought process.

The BBC hasn’t played that game. The broadcaster saw a huge opening when Trump sued for defamation and claimed financial damages to his business, so the BBC requested Trump’s business records, and the judge granted the request.

 I think it's great. BBC called Trump, Donald Trump's bluff. They had the spine to do that, unlike the media companies here in the United States, and they are winning because of it. They are coming after his January 6th texts. They are coming after exposing the false narrative that he wasn't involved and that he didn't incite January 6th, and he can't get out of it.

So this is exactly where he needed to be. This is what a real media company would've done here in the United States, but they didn't. They, they capitulated to him, um, out of greed and self-protection and self-interest because having him in office is very lucrative for them.

Trump’s BBC lawsuit problems may also put an end to his abuse of defamation claims.
